Christian Counseling

You believe in God. You pray. You serve. You show up. ‍

And yet something inside you is tired in a way that Sunday morning hasn't been able to touch. ‍

Maybe you've wondered if that means your faith isn't strong enough. Maybe you've told yourself that a person of real faith wouldn't need therapy. Maybe you've been carrying a wound from the very community that was supposed to be safe — and the idea of bringing your faith into a clinical space feels complicated, even risky. ‍

You are not alone in any of that. And none of it means what you think it means. ‍

At BH Counseling Clinic, Christian counseling is a space where your faith is not a footnote — it is part of the conversation, as much or as little as you want it to be. Led by Britney Hardin, a licensed clinician and former licensed minister of 10 years, this is a place built for the believer who needs more than a sermon and more than a clinical hour — who needs both, held together with care. ‍

You Don't Have to Choose Between Faith and Mental Health

One of the most common things people carry into a first session is the belief that they have to choose — that seeking therapy means their faith isn't working, that needing help is evidence of spiritual failure, that a stronger believer would be able to handle this through prayer alone.

That belief is not Biblical. And it is keeping people from healing they desperately need and fully deserve. ‍

Faith and mental health are not competing systems. They are companion pathways — and for many believers in Little Rock and Central Arkansas, the most honest healing happens when both are honored at the same time. ‍

God designed us for community. For carrying each other's burdens. For humility enough to say — I cannot see what I cannot see, and I need someone on the outside to help me understand what is happening on the inside. That is not weakness. That is wisdom. That is, in fact, exactly what faith looks like in practice.

When the Calling Becomes the Weight‍

Some of the most exhausted people I work with are also some of the most faithful. ‍

They said yes to everything — the ministry role, the committee, the leadership position, the volunteer commitment, the family need — because all of it was good. Because they wanted to serve. Because they felt called. ‍

But here is the clinical and spiritual question that changes everything in a session: ‍

Did God call you specifically to each of those things — or are some of them just good things you said yes to in your own strength?

Because there is a difference between the yoke God assigns and the weight we accumulate. His yoke is described as light. Easy. The burden that sits on your shoulders right now — the exhaustion that doesn't lift after rest, the depletion that follows you into worship, the sense that you are running on empty while still trying to lead, love, and serve — that is not what He called you to carry. ‍

In our work together, we begin to look at how many things you are doing in your own strength versus operating in the grace and capacity God specifically equipped you for. We look at how often you check in with Him — not just in the big moments, but in the daily ones — because He wants to be in every moment, not just the crises. And we begin to identify the assumptions that have become burdens He never asked you to pick up. ‍

You were made to obey — not to carry the weight of the world. That belongs to the One on the throne.‍ ‍

For the Believer Who Has Been Hurt by the Church ‍

This section is for you if you still believe in God — but the place you trusted to be safe wounded you instead.

Church hurt is real. The rejection, the judgment, the experience of bringing your most vulnerable self into a community and having it used against you or dismissed — that wound is legitimate, and it deserves a clinical and spiritual space to heal.

Here is what I want you to know about coming to BH Counseling Clinic: ‍

The church that hurt you is made of people. People like you and me — fallen, limited, sometimes wrong, sometimes harmful despite good intentions. The institution is not God. The people are not God. And what was done to you in that space is not a reflection of His heart toward you.

In my office, you can come unfiltered. Unmasked. You do not have to protect anyone's reputation, manage anyone's feelings about your story, or soften what happened to make it more palatable. You can bring the wound exactly as it is — with your faith in the picture as much as you want it to be — and we will work through it together.

Because as you heal, you will be able to show God's love to others the way you wished it had been shown to you.

For Ministry Leaders, Pastors, and Faith Professionals ‍

If you are a pastor, ministry leader, church staff member, or faith-based professional — this section is specifically for you.‍ ‍

I spent 10 years in licensed ministry. I know what it costs to lead. I know the isolation that comes with being the one everyone brings their burdens to — while you carry your own in silence because there is always another need, another event, another message, another appointment, another fill in the blank.

I know what it feels like to help everyone else through the things you never got time to unpack yourself.

This is the place you can come where you are not leading. Where you are not the face or the voice. Where you can set down what you carry and just be a person — a person who is tired, who has questions, who has wrestled with things behind the scenes that no one in your congregation or leadership circle knows about.

Leadership comes with such isolation sometimes. And the very tools that make you effective — your strength, your capacity to hold space for others, your commitment to showing up — can become the things that keep you from asking for help.

This may be exactly what you need for this season.

What Christian Counseling at BH Counseling Clinic Actually Looks Like

Christian counseling here is not Bible study. It is not pastoral care. It is not a replacement for your faith community or your relationship with God. ‍

It is licensed, evidence-based clinical therapy — drawing on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Narrative Therapy, and Family Systems theory — delivered by a clinician who understands faith from the inside, not just as a topic to be respected.

Faith integration is always client-led. Some clients want Biblical principles woven into every session — Scripture, prayer, spiritual accountability, the language of calling and covenant. Others want a clinician who simply won't pathologize their faith or dismiss the spiritual dimension of what they're carrying. Both are fully welcome and equally honored here.

The BH 3-Step Journey for Faith-Based Clients

Step 1 — The Clarity Call A free 15-minute conversation to answer your questions, understand what you're navigating, and determine whether BH Counseling Clinic is the right fit. No pressure. No commitment. Just clarity — and if the next step is somewhere else, I will help you find it.

Step 2 — The Environmental Audit We look at the full picture — your calling, your commitments, your community, your history with faith, and the weight you have accumulated. We identify what God called you to, what you picked up in your own strength, and what needs to be set down.

Step 3 — Strategic Resilience We build. Practical tools for emotional regulation and sustainable boundaries. A faith-informed framework for understanding your worth that is not tied to your output, your role, or what you produce for the Kingdom. Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to be a Christian to receive Christian counseling here? No. Faith integration is always client-led. If you have a different faith background or no faith background at all, you will receive the same high-quality, evidence-based clinical care. The door is open to everyone.

What if I'm questioning my faith or going through deconstruction? You are welcome here exactly as you are. Spiritual doubt and deconstruction are legitimate clinical experiences that deserve a safe, non-judgmental space. You do not need to have your faith figured out to begin.

How is Christian counseling different from talking to my pastor? Your pastor provides spiritual guidance, community, and pastoral care — all essential. A licensed counselor provides clinical assessment, evidence-based intervention, and a therapeutic relationship governed by professional ethics and confidentiality. These roles complement each other. Many of my clients continue meeting with their pastor while in counseling. Read more: The Difference Between a Pastor and a Therapist

Is everything confidential? Yes. Everything discussed in session is protected by the same legal and ethical confidentiality standards as any other clinical therapy. Your pastor, your church leadership, and your community will not know you are in counseling unless you choose to tell them

Do you offer telehealth for Christian counseling? Yes. In-person sessions are available in West Little Rock, with telehealth available across Central Arkansas — including North Little Rock, Sherwood, Maumelle, Benton, Bryant, and Conway.

What does the Clarity Call involve? The Clarity Call is a free 15-minute conversation — not a sales pitch, not an intake, not a commitment. It is simply a conversation to answer your questions, understand what you're navigating, and help you figure out the next step. Even if that next step isn't with me or with BH Counseling Clinic, the goal of that call is to help you find the right support.

This is reaching out to someone on the outside who can see what you cannot see from the inside — so that you can finish the race strong, ready, and able to accomplish the purpose and calling God has placed on your life.

You are not failing God by asking for help. You are trusting the community He designed for exactly this moment.

The Clarity Call is free. It is a conversation. It answers questions and helps you figure out what the next step is — even if that next step is not with me, even if it is not with this clinic. My goal in every Clarity Call is simply to help you move forward.
